Hello everyone! It's been a while since I posted anything since the Art exhibition last year. I have actually gone back to a hobby I used to do many years ago... building models. I was surprised to find out that this hobby is quite alive and well, with many competitions and exhibitions to enter and attend.

So for my first few models I decided to enter the genre of military models. I have begun with the WWI Era. I have attached a few images of models I have done in the last year. They are in 1/72 scale, which is small. I have used various painting techniques to produce weathering and detail to give them a realistic appearance. I think you will be amazed when you realize how small they actually are...

Below are the finished model pictures. I will also include some images of the models in the process of being built in a later blog and explain the process of out of the box and scratch built model techniques.

1. The first is a model of the 'British Bristol F.2B Fighter'. The wingspan is 7" and fuselage 5". The model kit is by Airfix a model maker out of the UK.

2. The second is the 'German Fokker Dr.1 Fighter'The wingspan is 4" and fuselage 3". This model kit is by Eduard Models a Czech manufacturer of finescale model kits and accessories.

Here is the box cover painting to get an idea of the type of plane. I have also included a couple of the pre-build and beginning of the build photos to show the scale(size) of model.

Pre-build parts already primed with first coat of paint.
Check out the dime next to parts to get a scale of the size.

Beginning stage of the cockpit with scratch built seatbelts.
Look how small the seat and seatbelts are next to the Dime.

3. The third is the 'British Mark I Tank'. It is 6 1/4" long by 2 1/4" wide. It is also manufactured by Airfix.

4. The fourth is the 'German AV7 Tank'. It is 4 1/2" by 1 3/4" wide. This model kit is made by Emhar a model manufacturer from the UK.

5. The fifth is the French Renault FT-17. It is 2 3/4" long by 1" wide. This little kit is made by RPM a model company out of Poland. I photographed this in an outdoor setting!

6. Finally here is a group photo of all the models together except for the Bristol F.2B Fighter. I no longer have that model as it was built for a private client.
